Vented Gas Logs

The vented units can produce a pleasant, dramatic flame; but these are for decorative purposes only. Since the fireplace damper must be opened to use vented gas logs, most of the heat goes up the chimney. Unlike wood-burning fireplaces, gas logs do not produce much creosote, which provides two advantages. First, your chimney will stay cleaner much longer. Second, the chimney will probably not emit a smell in hot weather commonly caused by a buildup of creosote.
